The short answer
To plan a Ganga Aarti at a destination wedding, fix the muhurat, reserve a clear space, get the venue’s approval for open flames, plan sound and timing, and book the Acharyas early enough for travel. Here is the checklist we share with couples and planners.
1. Timing and muhurat
Align the aarti with your muhurat and the flow of the day. Evening ceremonies, around sunset, are the most atmospheric. In India, outdoor amplified sound generally has to wind down by 10 pm, so plan the aarti earlier in the evening.
2. Space and layout
The Acharyas need clear space in front of the couple to raise and move the lamps safely, with guests seated at a comfortable distance. We share a layout with your decorator.
3. Fire safety and approvals
Most hotels, heritage properties and overseas venues need prior approval for open flames. Share the aarti plan with the venue early. Near water or on beaches, we use lamps and windshields suited to wind.
4. Sound
Mantra and conch carry beautifully in courtyards and halls. For larger lawns, coordinate a microphone with your sound team.
5. Travel and documentation
Our Acharyas travel from Varanasi. For overseas weddings in places like Dubai, Bali or Thailand, plan travel and documentation well ahead of the date.
6. Photography
Brief your photographer and videographer on the key moments: the first lamps rising, the couple at the centre, and the flower offering.
